James Warwood is our Children’s Worker at Old Roan Baptist Church. Since September 2008, James has been beavering away for 21 hours a week, developing the church's work in the community for the children and families of Aintree. So far this has seen James taking leadership over Thursday Laser Kids Club, assemblies in the local primary school down the road and teaching lessons in Music and R.E. for two year 6 classes in the same school.
James is from Chester, where in 2006 he trained with the Christian charity 'The Light Project' and graduated with a Foundation Degree in Community Evangelism (for more info check it out for yourself at www.lightproject.org.uk). This gave him the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of situations and communities within society and be a light to a whole host of people from homeless outreach to evangelism courses, from school work to street art, from drama to youth clubs, from preaching to urban festivals and a whole host more.
Whilst James is busy at Old Roan Baptist Church (The Hope Centre), he is also undertaking part-time study at Chester University for an Honours Degree in Theology. This means he has 6 hours of lectures each week and a total of 6 assignments to complete this year. Next academic year will see James starting his dissertation and then graduating with his Degree.
James is really excited about the potential, scope and opportunity there is to be had here at Old Roan Baptist Church within his ‘favourite and possible the most important job on the planet’, to raise children to become followers of Christ.
When James isn't busy at the Church or University he enjoys running, playing his bass guitar and going out with his friends.
