Paul's Story -
My mum and dad were Christians and regularly attended church so I was well used to Sunday school and church meetings. I was also aware that being a Christian was a personal relationship with Jesus and a decision I had to make for myself. At the age of 8 I made the decision to have that relationship with Jesus and I asked him to forgive for my wrong doings and thanked him for dying for me to make things right, and for the Holy Spirit who would be with me constantly guiding me, just as the Bible says.
As I grew older God answered my prayer for a wife when I seemed to be the only one without a girlfriend in the Youth Club, we met and married 5 years later. My life was not free from problems and troubles though. After we were married I had 2 nervous breakdowns and this was not only an extremely difficult time for me but also for my wife and our 3 children. The intensity of the 2nd breakdown was such that I became suicidal. There was a lot of rubbish in my life that God needed to deal with, and he did when he made the scripture in Isaiah 43 come alive to me (that I was precious and honoured in his sight and that he really loved me). It had taken 35 years for this to dawn on me. What’s more, I still had my marriage even though professionals had expressed disbelief that we were still together in spite the pressures and strains a breakdown puts on a relationship.
Is life easy? No! ...But he keeps me day by day and when I fall he picks me up again and he is right alongside me all the way, I know he has plans for my success.
