Rona is divorced, has two grown up sons and works in Probation
Rona’s story -
I was never involved in church when growing up and didn’t know anybody else who went to church. I had a brief encounter with a Church Youth Club when I was a teenager but didn’t learn anything about being a Christian at that time. I found out about it after a rock concert in 1972 when someone spoke at the end about Jesus, what he had done and what that meant for me.
That night something happened inside me when I prayed after hearing what had been said. Although I’d never really thought much about God and who he might be, there I was, suddenly filled with a love for him and I was feeling brilliant! I felt that I had discovered God is real and that made such a huge difference to my daily life.
That doesn’t mean that it’s been plain sailing all the way however. That was quite a while ago and I’ve had such a lot of ups and downs since then - but because of what I believe and who I believe in I have got through them all. I’ve discovered a peace inside and a joy and a security that I could never have known before. I know God loves and accepts me just as I am, I don’t have to do anything to earn his love and having a freedom to be just me helps me to become even more like the real me I was meant to be.
