Verse Of The Day

“What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.” (2 Timothy 1:13-14)  listen to chapter

Lynne, A Full time Wife and Mum

Lynne’s story -

In the summer of 2001 I gave birth to my second daughter Nerise (my first daughter Deanna was 2 years 8mths old at the time). When I returned to work a few months later and found myself juggling 2 children, house work, cooking, washing etc.. I found that I was really struggling!!

At this time my neighbour invited me to church and, as my husband had started playing golf on a Sunday, I decided it would keep the kids occupied and also give me a break from the house. I was pleasantly surprised when I got there as everyone I met seemed genuinely friendly and helpful. I remember thinking  “wouldn’t it be great if everyone was so nice”.

My first Sunday at church was filled with lots of different emotions and John, the minister who was speaking, was talking about my life – or so it seemed to me. I couldn’t wait to go back the next week.

It didn’t take long for me to realise that my life wasn’t what God wanted it to be for me. At the end of a Sunday Service in May 2002 I said a simple prayer and asked Jesus into my life, so I could start again with his help. There was no flash of lightning, no orchestral crescendo – just lots of talking to God and crying and what seemed like unlimited support from my new friends in the church.

Knowing that God is in control and wants me to live life abundantly has helped me to live life rather than crash from crisis to crisis trying to control everyone and everything around me. Knowing that he has a plan for my future and loves me intensely has made such a difference. Even though I’ve since had my son Isaac,  I now live a much more relaxed life . Not necessarily an easy one, but I know that, while he is with me, God will not allow me to go through anything in this life that I can’t cope with.
