Verse Of The Day

“What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.” (2 Timothy 1:13-14)  listen to chapter

Our History and our purpose.

In 1989, a small group of people started meeting in Davenhill School, Aintree, Liverpool,  believing God wanted to start a church in this place, and in January 1998, 41 members formed the newly independent Old Roan Baptist Church. Since then we’ve seen many people come through our doors, become Christians and move on in their faith. At present we are nearing 100 regulars. Our Minister, John Kearns, lives in Aintree along with many of the congregation and most of the leaders. In November '08, we moved into our own premises, and named the new building 'The Hope Centre'. This Centre has given us much more freedom to offer services to the local community and live out the vision which has been on our hearts for many years.

Each Sunday our service, which is relevant and easy to understand, is held at 10.30am and followed by tea and coffee with time to chat. Why not join us this week.

We have a CD ministry that allows those who can’t get to church to hear the life applicable talks, often presented in a short series format. They are sent as far afield as New Zealand and Africa (amongst other places), as recommendations spread. This service has been ongoing since 1997 with many hundreds of recordings created up to the present day.

During the week, people meet in small groups to develop friendships and find out more about being a Christian. The church also meet together once a month during the week, to worship, to support one another, study the Bible and pray and we sometimes have special guest speakers. There are fortnightly daytime meetings and monthly meetings for prayer on various issues as well.

We like to put on social events that everyone can enjoy, bringing friends and family along who don’t usually come to the church. Offering a variety of different events, we try to cater for all tastes! We also enjoy going away as a church for the weekend and getting to know each other even better.

We are always looking for ways of being involved with the local community, to grow and develop in the way God wants us to in this area. Some of the ways we do this is through holding regular Coffee Mornings, Parent's and Tots Club, Youth and Children's Clubs and providing a venue for after school clubs.
